Spiaggia Kalafatis

Popolare tra le famiglie con bambini e con coloro che amano gli sport acquatici (in particolare il windsurf), questa spiaggia si trova sul lato orientale dell'isola. Kalafatis è nota per i suoi sport acquatici. Questa è molto una spiaggia attiva. Nell'angolo sinistro della spiaggia di Kalafatis si trova una capanna con servizi di noleggio da snorkeling a immersioni. C'è anche un centro di windsurf, dove è possibile noleggiare una tavola all'ora, e un centro di sport acquatici per jet ski. Poiché è lontano dalle spiagge più turistiche, rimane meno sviluppato, ma ha alcuni hotel (vedi sotto) e ristoranti. Ci sono alcune rocce sul bordo dell'acqua, ma una volta passate oltre, è ottimo per nuotare. La spiaggia più piccola di Agia Anna è a pochi passi di distanza.

Delos

A breve distanza dalla secolare città di Mykonos, Delos è l'isola sacra dell'antica Grecia, un luogo imponente, privo di vegetazione, ma estremamente brillante sotto il sole.
Delos è riconosciuto come il più grande sito archeologico naturale dell'isola. Nessun'altra isola ospita così tanti monumenti di epoca arcaica, classica ed ellenistica ed è quindi un patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO.
La sacralità di questo bellissimo luogo è dovuta al mito della nascita di Apollo e Artemide. Secondo la leggenda, Delos era un'isola galleggiante fino a quando Poseidone la immobilizzò su richiesta di Zeus, per offrirla come rifugio a Leto.

Scatta foto e cammina per le stradine della regione della Piccola Venezia, un posto bellissimo con case colorate quasi costruite nel mare. Questa attrazione è un quartiere del XVII secolo, con case di ricchi mercanti e capitani. Osservare l'imponente architettura di queste case, con finestre colorate, porte, scale, balconi in legno sul mare, ricorda al visitatore la città italiana di Venezia.
La zona di Little Venice offre una varietà di cocktail bar, caffè e ristoranti, dove si può ammirare il tramonto più bello. La zona è piena di locali notturni ed è un luogo da scegliere per la tua serata fuori.

Christmas Customs in Mykonos

In Cyclades, Christmas festivities, have a special, unique identity which varies pleasantly from island to island.

Christmas

Mykonians uphold old traditions and religious celebrations sharing their local customs and homemade culinary delicacies with families, neighbours and visitors of the island. At Christmas the alleyways of Mykonos smell sweet because of “foinikia” (baked biscuits dipped in honey syrup), “kourampiedes” (butter biscuits dusted with icing sugar) and the traditional Christmas bread “Christopsomo” (a bread flavoured with cinammon, walnuts and a sign of the cross on top. In the villages an extra loaf of Christmas bread is baked and given to the animals of the house. The main Christmas meal is pork with greens or cabbage and onion pie with the local cheese “tirovolia” which are considered to attract abundance.

New Years Eve

On New Years Eve Women’s Cultural Folkloric Association shall take into the streets, singing old carols from Mykonos and Delos whilst carrying a traditional adorned model boat “karava” and a lanter.

Balosia

Festivities end in Epiphany Day with the celebration of “Balosia” an antique custom hailing from Venetian Times which is celebrated with traditional island dances to the sounds of violins, bagpipes and tubes.
